If you’re looking for something fun to do in Ventura, consider renting a boat for an hour (or more) and cruising around the harbor. Bring a picnic and a favorite beverage and you have a great romantic date, a family outing, or an adventure with friends.
My husband and I have done this a few times now, and we really enjoy it. The first time, just he and I (prior to having baby) rented a little wooden cutie called Nemo in which we putted around in the late afternoon sun. We admired the beautiful docked yachts with their clever names, and came up close to a lazy sea lion sleeping on the back of one of those yachts.
On next excursion, we brought some friends from out of town and rented an 18-footer, which featured comfortable booth-like seating and a table in the middle. We brought a picnic lunch and some wine, and dined as we glided along the marina and the Keys (marina front homes with boat docks). Just this last weekend, we (along with our 5 ½ month old baby and another family with kids) rented another 18-footer and cruised the marina.
